Smith Sectric Electric Desktop Watch, Made in England, 200/250 V. The Smiths Group Plc claim an ancestry dating back to 1851 when a Samuel Smith had a shop in Newington Causeway, London, but it does not appear that Smiths considered the manufacture of domestic clocks seriously until 1931. Smiths are one of the first companies that produced synchronous electric clocks. The “Sectric” Electronic Clock was produced in 1937 which was advertised using the phrase “Smiths Synchronous Electric Clocks” until January 1937 and “Smiths Sectric” from April 1937. At that time, Smiths were using a clockface type of a cartoon character in advertising their products.

Metamec Electric Desktop Watch, Made in England, 200/250 V. Metamec was a manufacturer of domestic clocks in the 2nd half of the 20th century, and was based in Dereham, Norfolk, England. The name “Metamec” is derived from “metal-work mechanics”. The company started as an offshoot of the furniture manufacturers Jentique in about 1941 which made boxes for instruments and bombs during World War II. The first Metamec model was a mains-powered mantel clock numbered 701 in 1947. All clocks by Metamec were produced to a high standard and the factory expanded with the purchase of new machines to allow them to create their own movements, rather than import the movements in from other clock companies. The factory increased in size in 1960s to 1970s and was the largest clock manufacturer in UK at that time.

Big Ben Repeater Westclox Black dial alarm clock with brass trim Oval shaped Made in USA "The Big Ben alarm clock was first sold in 1909 and has evolved through many case and movement changes. The Baby Ben was first sold in 1910 and has evolved in a similar way. The Big Bens and Baby Bens up through style 9 were made in the United States, Canada, Great Britain or Scotland. The style 10 is made in China. Case styles that have names instead of numbers are illustrated after the numbered styles. In 2001, General Time (owner of Westclox) declared bankruptcy and sold the Westclox name to Salton, Inc. Since then, the name ""Big Ben"" has been used on several reproduction models of clocks that were not called Big Ben in the past. These reproductions may be identified by being battery operated and made in China. "

Audemars Piguet, Swiss Made, Quarts, 2015 Royal Oak Table Clock In 1875, two young men passionate about Haute Horlogerie, Jules Louis Audemars and Edward August Piguet, decided to pool their skills to design and produce watches with complications in the vallee de Joux. Determination, imagination and discipline led them to instant success. A branch in Geneva was their next move in about 1885 and new commercial links were forged in 1889 Paris World Exposition where they exhibited complication pocket watches. The Audemars Piguet Factory continued to expand as the years went by. Its creations represented major milestones in the history of Haute Horlogerie, like the first minute repeater wrist watch in 1892, and the smallest five minute repeater movement ever made in 1915. From 1918 onwards, the founders passed the reins of the business onto their sons, who in turn perfected their expertise in manufacturing men’s and ladies wristwatches. Audemars Piguet continued to build on its now international reputation with creative designs. In 1972, saw the launch of Royal Oak, the first immediately successful high quality sports watch in steel, followed in 1986 by the first ultra thin tourbillon wristwatch with automatic winding. The creative spirit of the manufacture has not faltered since, offering aesthetically original timekeepers with outstanding movements.
